After taking our battlefield tour, we visited the onsite museum. The museum is a small period style building that includes the various displays, a museum store and a large meeting room (which also includes a number of artifacts).
The museum goes through the various stages of Pontiac’s War and what was happening in the American Colonies during the conflict. If of course does this while including various artifacts of the period and battle. There is a short movie at the end of the museum to help put everything into perspective.
The museum store is you’re normal fair for such a site. The meeting room was a rather funny story, as it turns out. Not so much the facility, but our conversation with two locals. While I was taking photos of some of the items in the large room, I noticed two ladies setting up for a party. Curiosity got the better of me and I had a short chat with them. Turns out that one was the mother of a one year old and they were setting up for a birthday party! Well, isn’t that a great way to start out a future historian. Can’t say I ever had such an event! We even got an invite to attend, but we gave our regrets, as our next site was an hour away and we needed to get on the road!
