My buddy in St Louis sent me a dozen more large trees that he makes. They are made using the twisted wire method. I like them as they are very strong and resilient and look good on a 28mm table, as they have sufficient. He makes them in different colors and shapes, so this gives a nice variation on the table, especially when you mix them with smaller commercially available trees. When setting up a woods table, nothing is worse that a field of tiny trees with large scale figures! These stand about 8-12″ in height and are stiff and not covered in flock that always falls off, like a lot of other trees. He does not have any for sale at the moment, but I will post the link when the next batch is available.
I asked him to leave the basing blank, as I wanted to do my own to match my exiting collection. So, I added some ballast, hit it with some brown woodland scenics terrain wash, dry brushed it with tan and then added some static grass to give the bases some character. I can now put together a nice large forest (stay tuned)!
