Back to some Flames of War miniatures. I thought I had finished my British Airborne company last year, but after some contemplation (insert fiddling with army lists), I decided I really needed to add some heavy weapons units to the force to make it more complete. So, I found a box of MMGs and another of mortars of the newer Battlefront models at my FLGS and picked them up.

I got them home and opened the boxes to find the miniatures and the appropriate units cards for FOW. The models came caste in light grey semi soft resin. I think these are part of the early switch that Battlefront moved from metal models when V3 was ending. To be honest, I am not a fan of these resin figures. Had I seen them earlier, I probably would have checked Ebay for earlier metal figures. I Found these models to be oversized, when compared to the infantry in either metal or plastic. I also find the detail to be wanting. I also have a bit of a worry, as I can see these shattering should you drop them on the floor! In any case, I had them, so no looking back!

I sprayed the models with tan primer and worked them up with Vallejo greens and browns on the uniforms. I added the flash for hands and faces and painted the weapons to finish up the base coats. Once all the colors were set, I hit all the models with some GW Agrax Earthshade to give them some shading and darken up the tan and flesh. I then painted the berets to finish the models.

Once the troops where done, I worked on the bases. First, I applied black Vallejo pumice to the bases (I had to match my earlier troops). I then drybrushed these up with browns and tans. I attached some scenic express flocking and then painted the boarders on the bases with dark earth. I then added some tufts, to what up the units.

Now I have some heavy weapons to go with my force (just have to be careful not to drop them). So, the should wrap up the army. Then again, where did I put those Tetrarches…..
