Next on the list was more infantry. I finished the hand weapons first and now finished the Great Axe figures. You cannot have a Dwarf army with out some great axes! These are figures from Conquerer again and come in a few poses with loose weapons that you glue in to your fancy. Like all models from Conquerer, they came with open hands. Like all the other figures, they come with a few that have shield already on their backs, while the majority they are seperate.

I included these in my shipment for overseas painting, with the same color scheme as the other models. Like the others, they did not have the shields painted or just painted them white (which were my instructions), so I did those myself. I painted the unpainted shields from scratch and painted up the others using my colors of choice. I then applied the Little Bg Men Studios transfers. In this case, I went with unique patterns for all the figures, to represent these as more veteran fighters. Like the other figures, I decided to add one more level of grey highlight to the cloths to five a little more depth.

Keeping with the same mounting as the other troops, I decided to use up by backlog of old GF9 magnetic bases. I sprayed these all dark brown and then fired and glue down all the figures. Later, I covered the bases with Vallejo dark mud (my new favorite pumice). I hit each bases with an earth tone followed by a tan dry brush. Next I added some Scenic Express blended turf and finally tufts. I wanted my dwarves to look like they were fighting on the highlands, so only flowers would do! I pulled out various shades from Gamers Grass and attached them. With that, I have some Dwarves Great Ax warriors!
