I finished up all the troops, next was to fish up all the command units at officers. These are unique figures from Conquerer and you have a number of choices (I ordered all the choices). Like all models from Conquerer, they came with open hands, so you have weapon options. Until many of the other figures, they have unique shaped taste on shields.

I included these in my shipment for overseas painting, with the same color scheme as the other models. Like the others, they did not have the shields painted or just painted them white (which were my instructions), so I did those myself. I painted the unpainted shields from scratch and painted up the others using my colors of choice. I was not happy with the red capes or lack of fringe colors on the sleeves. So, I spent some time and painted these up more to my liking. Next was building and painting all the standards . I went through my viking bits and put some stuff together (the dragon banners got lost in the mail…). Some brown paint, some metallics and then a splash of color! I glued these to the open hands and the troops were ready to go. With these figures done, my infantry are done and I just have to finish up the support troops.

I decided to use up by backlog of old GF9 magnetic bases for this army. I sprayed these all dark brown and then fired and glue down all the figures. Later, I covered the bases with Vallejo dark mud (my new favorite pumice). I hit each bases with an earth tone followed by a tan dry brush. Next I added some Scenic Express blended turf and finally tufts. I wanted my dwarves to look like they were fighting on the highlands, so only flowers would do! I pulled out various shades from Gamers Grass and attached them. With that, I have some Dwarves Crossbowmen!
