I have done a good job in painting up masses of CIS troops for my Clone Wars army, but have been a bit light on command options. I am still waiting on my CIS specialists to arrive, but in the meantime, Count Dooku was sitting on my table, so he was up next.
The model comes in the semi soft plastic, like the earlier Legion figures (I prefer the newer hard plastic ones). It has very little flash and goes together easily. In retrospect, I should not have glued the lower body to the upper body before paintings, as this made painting the inside cape and pants much more difficult than it needed to be. You have been warned! With that said, it goes together well and has nice detail. I found the face on this figure much better than the Obi Wan and hope they rerelease him in the future.
I sprayed the figure using tan underweight and white from the top. I used the GW dark brown contrast on the cape and pants and their black contrast for the coat. I felt the clock needed a second coat to darken it more. From there I added highlight colors for the respective areas to give some variation. I hit the belt with some brown and added silver to the various metal section. I then painted the face and hands. This was a base of Vallejo flesh, a wash, white and black for eyes and a mix of flesh tone highlights. I then did the hair with light gray and wash and white highlights. I finished with some red for the light saber.
Once the figure was done, I finished the base, like my other minis for the army. I started with a dark brown base and covered the top with GW crackled earth colored technical paint. Once it dried, I dry brushed it with Vallejo Iraqi Sand and attached a spike grass tuft from Gamers Grass. The model was then sealed with Dull Coat. I then went back and hit all the silver areas with GW gloss Nuln Oil to add some shading and shininess.
With that, I now have a new character for my army! I think it is time to add a bounty hunter next?
