Well, my troop painting has been proceeding at a brisk pace and I am now at a point that I have enough stuff to put on a full sized game of Star Wars Legion. I have painted up some scatter terrain to Star Wars a size any table I set up. However, in all my collection, I do not really have anything to represent city fighting. With that in mind I turned to the google machine and started looking. Most options are quite expensive and mostly represent the usual desert adobe dwelling that is common in a lot of settings. That was not really what I was looking for, as I wanted something a little more refined. As I continued my search, I found sets from Legion Terrain!
Looking over the pictures, I saw that they had a renaissance range (a rather Naboo look) that seemed to fit the bill. The models were available in both painted and unpainted version. They are all 3D plastic prints. Looking closely at the pictures, I could see the ridge lines that I normally hate, but they seemed to work OK on these types of structures. With caveat, I went wild and ordered the buildings in mass!
The shipment arrived and the models looked as they did online (not a common thing with 3D prints). They did have the ridge lines as I was expecting and each was fully painted and shaded. I will not say it is the best paint job ever (better than GF9), but more than expectable for the tabletop and reasonable for the price. I think they will fit my needs just fine
Each building comes in sections, so you can stack them and make them as tall as you like. This gives you options using the same basic structures. They also include a few roof options, so you can have a little variety. They do not come with floors, so you will need to add these with plastic card if you want multi-stop buildings (which I do). the round structures have separate doors, so stacking is easy. The hex building has them moulded in, so it is a little more limited (unless you add a balcony yourself). The towers have two height options. There are also so scatter items to add more points of interests (walls, gazebos, etc). All in all, enough for a nice set up.
Each model is rather high and with the stacking, you can really get a sense of scale on the table. This makes them a good choice for a city scape. As such, even with those ridge lines, they fit my need perfectly!
In addition to the Renaissance set, they also have desert, imperial, factory and temple sets to choose from. So, if you are not in the mood to paint your own buildings and want something light weight and durable, you should check them out!
