I continue to work on my Star Wars Legion armies and the time finally came to get some command figures done. For my Republic forces, this started with Obi Wan Kenobi. He is my favorite character from the Star Wars universe, so I wanted a few Star Wars paint jobs under my belt before I finished him.
The figure comes with the core box game and is of the same semi hard plastic as the clones. The detail in good, but the face is a little unremarkable, so you have to work around that with your brush as best as you can. He comes in his prequel pose and is wearing his Clone Wars uniform with armor plates (why does body armor in Star Wars hardly ever cover the stomach area?).
I assembled him and sprayed painted him tan on the bottom with white from the top to give some highlighting to work with. Looking at some Clone Wars pictures, I saw that he was wearing Black and Tan, with white armor. So, I replicated that look. The tan areas was hit with some GW skeleton hoard and then highlighted with tan. I hit the white areas with GW White Contrast and highlighted/overpainted those with white. The belt is just GW Contrast Brown. I painted the flesh Army Painter flesh, his it with a GW flesh wash and highlighted it up with a couple highlights of flesh, painting the eyes and lips along the way. The hair is just skeleton hoard again with some highlights to give a dark blond effect. I noticed some marking on his armor in the photos, so I added these using read paint. I painted the metallic areas and added some GW gloss washes. Finally, I painted the light saber blade neon green. I may go back and replace this with some green clear plastic rod at some point, but still need to find that.
The basing was the same as all my other Legion Figures. I started with some brown, covered the top with GW Dry Earth Technical Paint. Let is set and hit it with a dry brush of Iraqi Sand and added a spike green tuft from Gamers Grass. Some spray sealer and Obi Wan is ready to lead my Clone troopers on the tabletop!
