Breaking up the troop painting, it was time to do some more terrain. With that in mind, I had to start thinking about terrain for my Star Wars Legion games in the future. While looking online, I came across a landing platform by Ziterdes. It looked the part and was inexpensive (not true of many other options!). I ordered the piece and awaited its arrival. It was delivered a few days later and it was up to me.
The piece is single casting in heavy foam (one of my favorite terrain materials). As such, nothing is really required to before painting. I decided to spray it with some auto primer grey to give a thick coating (foam can use the extra rigidity I think). Once that dried, I hit the whole thing with a black was from Vallejo. This took a while to dry, so I set it aside a while and grabbed it the next time I was painting. My next painting session, I grabbed it had wet brushed it with some Vallejo London Gray. I followed that up with some Vallejo light gray (don’t remember which). I did some heavier work on the platform itself, just to give more contrast on the central section, just to break it up and give a focal point. I then flicked some black and brown ink on the top to give the effect of fuel and lubricant spills. I sealed the whole thing with Krylon Matt Finish.
I now have a nice platform to add to my terrain tables. Being foam, it is lightweight and easy to transport and store. The detail is very crisp and paints up well. A solid choice if you are looking for your own platform!
