The picture above is of two WWII German stick grenades. One is a de-milled grenade and the other is an Arii model kit that I picked up many, many… many years ago.
I stated it back in 80s! I started the kit and moved houses while working on it. So it got packed in a box with another kit and has sat there ever since. Well, I was organizing some old model kits to decide what to sell on Ebay and came across this long lost kit. I pulled it out of the box and decided the time was to finish it to add to my shelf!
I glued the pieces together and added some putty inside the grenade itself to get some heft. I kept the grenade and handle separate to facilitate painting.
I sprayed the head with some grey and chipped it up once the paint was dry to show the green plastic underneath (for aging). I then spayed the handle with some tan. I hit the handle with a brown wash to bring out the wood effect. I then hit the entire mode with some krylon flat coat to get a satin finish and now I have a grenade for my shelf!
