Working on my F&I and now having some artillery, I decided to paint my bag full of Acheson Creations Gabions. I had a burial mound in the same bag, no decided I would paint that at the same time. I had been picking up the Gabions out of the discount bin at various conventions, so had managed to have more than I though!
All the models are done in a light grey hard resin, like all models from Achesons. They all have a rare polished effect compared to most companies, but this makes them well suited to take a primer coat. There is basically no clean up required on these models, so the X-Acto stayed in the box!
I sprayed all the models with Krylon camo tan. For the baboons, I painted the dirt brown. I then hit them with a dark brown wash. Once dried, I dry brushed them up with tan and the dirt with earth tone. I added some flock to the bases and sprayed them all Dull Coat and these were done.
The burial mount was sprayed Krylon gray. I then hit the stone ares with a black wash and then some random bits of brown and green wash. I drybrushed the stone areas lighter shades of gray. I then painted the edges tan and hit with with a brown wash and then dry brushed it up a few levels of tan. I then glued on flock and tufts to add some flavor. I sprayed the whole things with Dull Coat.
I now have all the Gabions I could ever need and a nice large burial mound for pulp! Acheson Creations has a nice line of models that paint up well. They are no cheap, but not too expensive either. Being resin, they wight can pile up a bit, but that is par for the course with resin.
