I recently worked on some Warhammer Flagellants for my Empire army. While pulling them out, I looked at a few archer models that where in the same tray. Once the Flagellants were done, I put them away and pulled out the archers. There were only ten models and they needed a bit of work. I bought them a long time ago and they had a very basic paint job. They were done in blue and white scheme. The white was not really shaded and the blue only had highlights.

I had decided quite some time ago to update my Empire paint scheme and move it from the two color blue/white scheme to a three color re/white/blue scheme (this was Altdorf in the old world). Being a small unit, this seemed to be a good unit to try the look. The figures also let me try out the new GW contrast paints, that I had been meaning to work with!

So, I basically hit the white with the new contrast paint and then again painted the highlights. I used the blood red on some sections of white and also hit them with a red highlight. I was very happy with the effect and it definitely sped things up! I decided to hit the blue recesses to darken them up a bit and give more contrast to the blue. I followed this up with some repainting of hats and feathers. I now have a redone archer unit and a path forward for the rest of the army!
