I am always on the lookout for terrain for my gaming. Anytime I can find something that is not expensive and works for my need, I tend to pick it up and figure out the use later! I was on the Scotia site looking for some sci fy halls to add to my existing set for Epic. While on the site, I decided to look through all the terrain (partially in the hope of offsetting high mailing costs from the UK). Going through the catalog, I found a number of inexpensive pieces that I though would work for me. One of these was a set of greek ruins. Looking them over, I figured they would work for FOW (fighting in Greece and Crete), as well as small temple ruins for Pulp.
The bock finally arrived in the mail and I separated all the different packs by period/game and started glueing. The models come in hard dark gray resin. They do not really have much flash, but do have a bit of debris that need to be brushed off. They have a few bubbles here and there, but not a problem for this type of terrain. The Greek temple required minor assembly. I basically had to glue the pillars on the semi circle ruin. Everything else was stand alone sections. Let that dry and hit the model with tan Krylon camp paint. Set it on my painting table and that was that for a while….
While applying some washes to some fantasy figures, I decided to do the same on the ruins. Once again, that was that and they sat on the table for a while…. Then, while waiting for some basing to dry on some FOW figures, I decided to finish the ruins. So, I hit the models with two levels of light tan and then finally white on the stone itself. I then added some static grass bits to add some color. Let that dry and sprayed all the models with semi gloss sealer from Testors the next day. Now I have some ruins! A nice little set for not much money.
