Another short project to add to my miniature terrain collection. I picked up a number of packs of Old Glory Skylight sets. These are one piece resin models that you can use to dress up your roof tops. I still have a plan to make a rooftops Pulp set up and bought some of these to add to that slow moving project.
There are three different type you can choose from. I picked up all the types, as I plan to have a lot of roofs to cover with clutter. Each set comes in the usual Old Glory bag with tag labels. Each is single piece caste in a grey resin. They all look like single piece mold casts, as the bottom is smooth and there are no mould lines on the models. Like many OG resin items, they do have their share of air bubbles though. For scatter terrain, this is something I can live with, but something I would prefer was not the case! As with all OG stuff, you cannot beat the price (if you have the Old Glory Army Card membership).
I decided to paint mine all in grey to simulate concrete. So, pulled out the Krylon and sprayed them all gray. I then hit them all with a black wash, with a few pats of brown wash, here and there. I then dry brushed them up with two shades of grey.
The next part was all the windows. Could not make my mind up, so I painted some black to simulate lights being out and most of the rest in blue. I hit the top of each pain with a slightly darker tone blue and the bottom with a slightly lighter shade (probably a little too slight, now that I see them with the gloss coat). I hit each pane with a white spot to simulate a reflection point.
Once all the panes were done, I sprayed the models with satin finish spray coat and then went back and painted each glass pane with gloss coat. Now I have some new roof scatter terrain, I just need to paint the actual building roofs to put them on!
