In between painting and basing my armies, I tend to squeeze in random terrain projects. This is done for two reasons. First, I need to paint up the terrain! second, it is easy to do and I feel like I am accomplishing something during painting sessions in between projects that take a long time!
So, in my many boxes of unpainted terrain, I pulled out some roof top terrain items that I picked out last year. These are all items that I can just set on existing terrain, so they can used in early 20th century gaming. It is an easy way to take older buildings and use them in later periods without having to paint a whole new set of buildings! It also adds flavor to terrain to have scatter terrain to the table.
Most of the items were railroad terrain, while the water towers were from Old Glory. All have simple paint jobs and were easy to work on. The smaller vents needed some reinforcement, so I glued them to round metal washers. This gives them some weight, so they will sit in place on the buildings and not blow off if someone sneezes! A little grey paint and you have a concrete pad!
Paint, seal and a little more throw terrain into the mix!
