Picked up the Reaper Bones Black Giant Frogs at my FLGS. Thought they would be nice in a pulp game in the future. The set comes with two frogs in different poses (above). They are in the newer grey semi soft resin, like all the other “black” line figures. For only about five dollars, they are a good deal for the buyer.
The figures are generally free of flash and easy to clean up. One frog is a single piece and the other has two pieces (frog and tongue). Glue the tounge in and your done with the build.
I went with a simple paint scheme of Testors medium green spray paint, followed by a dark green ink wash and then highlighted with various shades of green. The figures have bracelets, so I painted those copper and did a brown wash and brass highlight. Painted the eyes and claws black and hit them with a satin spray sealer. I opted not to mount these on bases, as they are resilient and good sized. They will fit fine into my Pulp collection. They would also make nice unit fillers for T9A, but I have more then enough figures for that army!
So, if you want some nice looking large frogs for your fantasy/pulp gaming needs, these are a strong contender. Cheap and well detailed. Who could ask for more?
