I picked up the Gayle Force Nine ruined fountain some time back to add to my fantasy terrain collection. As with all their terrain, it comes prepainted. This particular fountain also comes with resin water that is done quite nicely. I am somewhat cautious with collecting terrain from GF9, as it is made out of a soft resin. This makes the models quite resilient for gaming, but heavy too. However, this piece was too nice to pass up (it was also on sale!).
As with most GF9 terrain, they prime the modes place and give a two coat dry brush. To me, this always makes their models look like they are not quite done. So, like some of the other GF9 terrain in my collection, I decided to add a little more depth.
I started by giving the whole model a wash to tone down their drybrush and then hit the model with a wet brush of medium grey, followed by a drybrush of light grey. I then did the earth around the base in brown and tan, adding some flock. I then sprayed the whole thing with some dullcoat (taping off the resin, as not to mess up the water). Just a quick bit of work and I think the model looks even better and fits with my other terrain.
