It has been a long time coming, but Battlefront has finally released the mid war supplement for British Airborne and Commandos. The have also supplement the release with a minor figure release (ATRs and 20mm AA Guns). I have been waiting for this release for some time (along with the German Eastern Front Allies). I am a little surprised that the release has taken so long, considering the lack of new plastic miniatures, but we finally have it.

The release follows the same format as the earlier Fallschirmjager release. It includes a paperback army book (more of a pamphlet), unit cards and command cards and all in one package!

The supplement provides British players with full lists to field mid war Airborne and Commando forces, with some Airlanding support units to boot. Now we can play mid war Commando raids and Airborne landings. Of coarse there are also a handful of command cards that you can add to your mid war deck to support these units.

The Parachute company provides for a Para, MMG and Mortar platoon. All are similar to their late war listings, with all units rated as careful aned fearless. The one change is that the units have a skill rating of trained. The Paras have options for both ATRs and Piats. Plenty to work with.

The Commandos are the same as their late war brethren. The lists provide for Commando infantry sections, MMGs and Mortars. Like the Paras, there are options to bolster the Commando infantry with ATRs or Piats.

Finally, we have some Airlanding support options that include a Recce platoon, 6ld ATG platoon and 75mm artillery battery. All have mid war penetration values. The Recce come with MG stands, so some nice firepower.

All in all, a small, but very nice release. A must buy for any midwar British player or later war player wanting to get some extra use from their Paras or Commandos! Very much in the flavor of the earlier para and 21Pz releases. It is my hope the Battlefront keeps these coming and uses them as a tool to do more division releases in the future.
