I needed a few units of hounds for the Fantasy Army I am working on. Could not decide what direction to go in, but opted to just use figures I already had in my miniature collection. Most of these are old Ral Partha hounds that I once found on sale for 75 cents each. I had used a few of these earlier for some command bases, so it made sense to keep up the theme. I also wanted something simple and it is always good to reduce my unpainted lead supply!

Once I pulled out the figures, I realized I did not have as many as I wanted. So, I needed to find something else to fill out the units. I stopped by my FLGS and found a couple packs of Reaper Bones Black Dire Wolves on the shelf. I picked those up to bring me up to the ten I wanted.

The bones figures had some holes and open areas on them that I did not like, so I filled those in with putting and textured them with a hobby knife to match the fur. This ensured they blended in with the other models.

To keep things simple (they are going to be a chaff unit after all), I decided to go with a black scheme. As such, I sprayed them with black paint, hit them with a black wash and then highlighted them with some London Grey.I then glued them to some old GW cav bases that I had and based them to match the rest of the army (A few stones, a little ballast, a brown wash, tan drybrush, grey shaded rocks, static blend and some tufts). It ended up being a short amount of work and gave me a break from painting artillery guns!
