Back on my Epic painting spree! Next up was the Necron Army to add to the menagerie. I picked up a number of miniatures from Trolls Under the Bridge last year to create an Epic Necron army. The models are available online and through an Ebay shop.
The figures are all metal castings. The infantry is all one piece with round bases to mount to old style GW Epic bases. No bases are provided, so you either have to do your own or buy them separately. The vehicles all are multi part kits, so some gluing is required!
I had a number of old GW bases that I did not use for my Eldar, so thought I would give them a try. Unfortunately, the figures bases are a little too large, so some work is required to make them fit. In retrospect, I should have just opted for steel bases. Oh well, it all worked out in the end. I sprayed the bases brown and then glued the troops down as best as I could.
The Monoliths are a conversion from some Necron bits that I had. I just glued two sections together and they seem to fit the part.
All the other vehicles are the kits from Trolls Under the Bridge. They are a little bit fiddly to glue together with all the small parts, but everything fits fine. Just required some patience.
Once all the figures where glued, I decided to stick with the metal color and spray dull coated them (I did spray the Monoliths silver, as they were grey). Once that dried, I added dark green, light green black and grey details to each model. Once dried, I hit all the models with a GW gloss black armor wash. I considered going with a green, but decided to go hard silver instead. After that, it was just flocking and a final semi gloss spray sealer and the army is ready to go!
