Another quick painting project and product review. This time it is the Reaper Bones Black Hell Hounds. These are 28mm “medium sized” plastic models. In looking at the figures, they looked like good stone golum dogs to me! Another perfect add for my Pulp collection…
As with all the Reaper Bones, these models are very inexpensive (dare I say cheap!), at $10 for three models. They come cast in grey semi hard plastic. These models are all single casts, so no gluing necessary. They did have a little bit of flash on them that needed to be scraped off (not too hard with the plastic). Each pack comes with the three models and each model is a unique pose, which is very nice for those that want to used these are small units or just have some variation.
I chose to spray mine grey and added some gun metal to the spikes around the neck and bronze to the ring on top. I hit the whole things with a black wash and dry brushed up two shades of grey. I then hit the whole model with satin finish spray to seal them and to look more like polished stone (unfortunately, does not make for the best pictures with the light reflection hiding the shading, but oh well). A simple paint job and a nice set of minis! I’m very happy with these, as I am with many of the new Bones Black models.
