I have been buying a number of Cigar Box Battles terrain sheets over the last year to fill out my through terrain collection. However, I am starting to work on a 28mm town terrain board for future Pulp games. Unfortunately, they do not make the type of cobblestone mat that I was looking for. Walmart to the rescue!
Walmart sells white fleece blankets that can be ordered printed with any photo that you send them. A buddy of mine had made some of these for his gaming needs and I was intrigued… He also pointed me to Game Vault online as a source of downloadable artwork for this specific purpose. So, I found the cobblestone I was looking for and went to the Walmart site.
Simple to order. Pick your and type of blanket. Upload your image, give your details and pay online! A week later, the blanket showed up in the mail! The price was about $60 in total (file, blanket and shipping). So, slightly cheaper than the $75-$80 pre-printed ground cloths you can find from hobby suppliers.
The blanket itself is of similar quality, as you would find from purpose made options from hobby companies. Seams are well sown and cloth is good quality. I do wish they would ship them in a storage bag, but that nothing I cannot take care of with a large freezer bag. The cloth sets well over terrain and the image has quite good detail. If you cannot find the terrain your looking for or would just like to save ten bucks, this is definately a good option.
