Her Majesty’s Government still has its warrant to capture Baron Maxim Volkov. He has been followed deep into the Jungles of the Congo. While on his trail, the dedicated adventurers have come across the lost ruby mines of Zam-Zam. Not missing the chance to get rich, everyone has helped themselves to a little personal wealth! Unfortunately, the mines are also sacred ground for the Zam-Zam people. This action has angered them, so it’s time to get the heck out, before it is too late! The race is on!
Time for another In Her Majesties Name Pulp game. I decided to do another jungle adventure! This scenario would pit the players almost totally against the board. The scenario design was everyone for themselves. The was to exit the opposite board edge. The player that exited with the most figures holding rubies would win. This would give them 20 points. The defending player would have all the natives and would get 20 points if they could stop the other two players from exiting. In addition to the primary objective, each force rolled up their own secondary objectives (three players in all).
There were 10 markers on the table. Whenever an active player moved within 4 inches of the marker, a die would be rolled. On a 1-5 it would be D5 tribesmen. On a 6+ swamp gas marker would be released, after its initial positioning, it would move randomly each turn, with each figure in contact taking a Pluck -2 to get knocked down. There were 6 additional markers strung along the back board edge. When any figure came within 12 inches of these markers, they would release D5 gorillas, which would be controlled by the game master. On turn six, all the forward markers would be revealed and any remaining tribesman would appear on the back board edge.
As the terrain was covered in jungle vines, the adventures would have to roll equal to or below their move rate if they decided to run. If they failed, they would get knocked down. The would roll again to see if they dropped their rubies. The natives knew the land, so they did not have this limitation.
The game started comely with each player ignoring one another and moving to the board edge. Hauptman Hans Gruber kept his Schtutztruppen together and methodically bounded towards the board edge. Lord Huffington’s group spread out and tried to move more quickly, tripping along the entire way! Being spread out, the team got in to quick trouble, as each was attacked by groups of tribesman, when the full force arrived, it did not take long for Lord Huffington and his team to be overwhelmed and captured…
Hauptman Gruber kept going though and fought his way through the waves of tribesman, only to find a wall of gorillas. Fortunately, these creatures treated all humans the same and the Hauptamn used is skill to break on through!
