While visiting Florida, I drove to the east coast to visit my cousin and his family. While brainstorming family things to do, we came up with the idea of visiting Gatorland in Orlando. He has two small children and we needed something that they could finish and not get to exhausted before we finished. Gatorland seemed to be the trick. The park has existed since the 1940s, so is an old staple of the Florida theme park scene that gets lost by the Disneys, Universals, etc. that exist in the state. As such, it is more of a local park that you do not see too many tourists attending. I think this is too bad, as I feel a little nature is good for the soul!
The park itself is rather small and you can enjoy it half a day (leaving time for other fun). It is basically what the name says, a land full of gators! This is the primary focus of the park. Alligators and Crocodiles oh my! They also have other animals, so it is more of a zoo with a focus on alligators. They have a few feeding stations where you can feed different animals (the bird dome is quite amazing). They even has a train ride for the kids if you do not want to walk, along with a sort of water park.
If your in the Orlando area and want something off the beaten path (or just love alligators!), check it out! I took a few photos and have them below for your perusal. For more information, check out https://www.gatorland.com/
