While at Historicon earlier in the year, I stopped by the Wargames Company (Authors of Et Sans Resultant Napoleonic Rules) to look over their new offerings. They have recently started selling 10mm Napoleonic figures and terrain to support their miniature rules. As it is, I am knee deep into 15mm, so I will not be picking up their troop line. However, their terrain has peaked my interest. As my group tends to play grand tactical battles, having large buildings is quite problematic with our normal ground scale. In order to make towns look right, they need to be a little under scale to better match the ground scale, but not too small to look odd next to the figures. The answer is normally using 10mm buildings. Now that TWC has a complete line, it is definitely worth a look!

As it happened, TWC had a sale on their buildings, so I picked up a couple to try out. The easiest to paint were a couple of bridges and a windmill (can’t ever have enough windmills! The models themselves are very crisp with a good amount of detail. They are made of a hard tan resin that is very sturdy. As the pieces are small, they should be free from chipping with reasonable use and storage. No clean up was necessary, just straight to paint (after I glued on the windmill blades!).

I spray painted the pieces grey, Painted a few brown details and hit them with a black wash. Couple of dry brush layers of medium and light grey. Spray dull coat and done. After painting, the detail comes through very well and it not lost. Well worth a couple of sheckels!
