A call has gone out from King Leopold of Belgium. He is hiring hunters far and wide to clear the Zabuli valley of pesky animals that are in the way for his next strip mining operation. As usual, the bounty is high and well worth the trip it seems… No character references are necessary. Arriving at Kinshassa, the various teams are briefed on the nature of the mission. It seems that the King needs and area cleared of all aggressive wild life to protect the locals (in reality, the local laborers that will be digging up the country side.). Each expedition will be paid handsomely for each trophy, which will need to be presented before payment is made. With that said, the area also is the home of many many rare and aggressive animals that will not take intruders lightly. The race is a foot, can your team come back with the largest hall and biggest prize? It’s time to crack on and show the others what for!

Time for another In Her Majesties Name Pulp game. The scenario was designed to be competitive, but not so much of a fight as a number of our earlier games. The rules were straight forward. There various animals and markers placed around the table. The markers would be activated when a figure moved withing D10 inches (game master rolled for each event). Any activated animal would be multipied by D5. The other markers would be random. On a roll of 1-3 the result was D10 small animals, 4-8 were D5 of medium animals and 9-10 was D2 of large animals.

The game master (me) would run the animals. They would roll a D10 for movement and move randomly based on the die direction and the number of inches listed. If the distance rolled was within range of a player figure, the animal would instead charge that figure or figures.

Each small animal killed would be one point, medium two points and large five points. Killing an opponent’s figure would be -1 points. Each team also would roll their secondary objectives. Each team would start the game with three two point trophies already in their camp and would start the game in their camps. If a team shot a target and did not move into contact, a buzzard would decimate it the next turn on a 50% roll. As such, players needed to make sure they could get into contact. In addition, each model could only carry three prizes. These would need to be taken to camp. Prizes could be stolen from downed player models or from enemy camps (there is no honor in the Congo!) The player with the most points would win!
We had four teams. Each team started opposite from each other in their camps and moved out out to get hunting. Each team moved out from their camp somewhat cautiously and engaged the markers closest to them.
Things ramped up quickly, as markers were triggered all over the place. It ended up being a fight for survival for most of the teams as they were almost overwhelmed by the number of beasts! Teddy Rosenfelds group was almost entirely wiped out fighting a single lion! Professor Pebody had his camp ransacked by monkeys and had to go save his belonging. In the end, Lord Huffington took the honors from the field and won the day.
