A few years ago a company whose name I don’t remember came to Historicon with a new product. (I think it was pre-Fredericksburg but I can’t be sure.) The company sold ceramic buildings for craft projects and decided to try and sell them to gamers. Instead of ceramic the buildings were made of a compressed paper that made them easy to modify. Unfortunately for them the products never took off, possibly because for the most part they were very cartoonish. I did however buy one building, a doughnut shop. I then proceeded to modify it.
The first thing I did was I cut off the bottom section which contained a large, very stylized sidewalk. I then made a foundation of foam core to raise the building up to a better height. I was initially going to use spray foam knock down to add a stucco texture to the bottom of the building but I didn’t like how it looked so decided to create a stone work bottom with green stuff instead.
It took me a few attempts and even after that the stones may be a little large but it was my first significant foray into green stuff.
There was a small door in the back of the building which was too thin so I just bricked it up. I made a door with plastic card and painted the whole thing up.
All in all, I’m very happy with how it came out. I’m glad I finished this project as it was probably pending for seven years AND my wife kept reminding me about it. . .. Thanks for reading and if you remember the company this is from drop me a line!
