I bought the Knights of Dice Cyclops Security Tower off a friend at Cold Wars. While I was manning the paint and take I assembled it with the help of my friends, who had assembled his own previously. He helped me separate the pieces for ease of assembly.
Another friend had intended on punching out the pieces and ended up gluing together quite a few components.
When I got home I painted it. I used rattle cans to prime it black, then I sprayed white from a high angle pointing down. This technique is called zenithial hughlighting. I then sprayed the whole thing grey. I ended up thinking the grey was to light so I flipped the whole thing over and did a zenithial (reverse zenithial?) coat of dark grey. I flipped it over and did another quick highlight of the light grey to even it out.
Next, I then masked a stripe down the front right side of the building and painted an orange stripe.
I picked out the hexagons as if they were lenses, painted a few things a darker grey to break up the light grey and added plastic to the window areas. All in all it was a quick, and I feel effective, way of getting terrain in the table.
The best part is I finished it the morning I flew out for Adepticon! On to something else!
