I had a buddy come and visit me over the weekend and we had some time to kill. He had mentioned that he had never been to the US Marine Corps Museum at Quantico. As it had been a number of years since I had visited, we decided we would take a short road trip. The museum has plenty of parking and is free to visitors, so no issue getting in. We met up with another buddy in the area and took a stroll through the various halls. The displays start with the founding of the US Marine Corps all the way to the modern day. It also has a pub and cafeteria (where we stopped for some lunch). There is also a gift shop where one can find the normal gift shop items. The museum has the right mix of narrative and artifacts. It’s a great place to find out about America’s wars (and interventions) and the role of the marines in each. Once we finished looking at the various displays we decided to take a walk around the exterior monument trails to end the day. If your into military history, this place is for you. They know how to set up their displays with life size dioramas, films, narratives, artifacts and you name it. If your in the Washington D.C. or Richmond Va. area, it is worth a stop.
Check out my photo roll of some of the exhibits!
