I came across a listing on Goodwill for an Oblivion Bubbleship model, while looking for some other miniatures. I really like the movie so thought it would be a nice add an a shelf in my hobby room. So, I ordered the model. Well, let us say, I did not get what I was expecting. It was not a ship model, it was a lego (like) set with hundreds of custom bricks!

I was a little miffed, but it was cheap. I opened the bag to find even more backs full of blocks. However, there were no instructions! I was really miffed! I shoved it in a drawer and looked online for the instructions. I finally found some and downloaded them. They were not very good, so I just let them sit in my memory for a while.

I was home one night and was not in the meed for painting, I saw some Oblivion shorts on Youtube and got motivated to try to put the kit together. Unfortunately, there is no key in the instructions, so you do not know how many of each part there are supposed to be. In addition, the parts are packed randomly in different bags, so there is a lot of part searching. This is made harder by the fact the instruction images are not always clear.

Well, I dived in and began searching and snapping, while catching up on the new Dare Devil series on Disney. It took a few nights of work. I had to do a couple of re-assemblies, when I realized I had used the wrong part a few time (a few steps later in the process).

I finally got everything together and realized I was missing two parts. One was not noticeable, but the other is part of the lower gun mount. I also had a handful of extra parts. It is clear that quality control is not a strong point from this company!

I finished up everything and the kit looks decent WIth that said, they made some odd decisions with the fuselage that I think could have been done much better. The ruble portion is also not correct to the movie version. In the end, it was only ten bucks and will work for a shelf model. At least until I find something better!
