So, it was time for Cold Wars for 2025. For some reason of conflict, HMGS scheduled it at the old Eisenhower Hotel in Gettysburg. The location is not exactly the best, as the facility is spread over different separated buildings.

The event had the usual fair of games, tournements, vendors, flea market, Painting University and presentations. A little for everyone! With that said, I am not sure if it was the change of venue or some other reason, but there was not great attendance. For a regular club convention, it was very good. For HMGS, not so much.

I road up with some buddies and we went through the event. We did the game crawl and registration, while we were waiting for the flea market. It was a bit light on sellers, but I got a few gems to take home with me. I then did the vendor area sweep and picked up a few things I do not normally see at my FLGS. There were a few things I wanted, but vendor attendance was very light. I was able to do my whole run in about two hours.

My buddies and I regrouped and decided we had pretty much done what we had wanted. Since we were at Gettysburg, we decided to take a drive up the road. It was too late for any of the museums, se we went to the battlefield, remembering they recently reopened the updated Little Round Top area.

We pulled up to the hill and parked the car behind the ridge. The parking is located in the artillery baggage area, so it does not disrupt the field of view. There are some new trails and updated placards around the Union deployment area (we did not have time to do the Confederate side, as it was getting dark).

It is easy to see all the flank markers and get to the various monuments. The weather was helpful, so it was an enjoyable detour!

Lots of busy tables scenery wise – always good to see Renaults on the board.
