With my new decals at hand, I am now working through my backlog of French late war armor. It is funny, this was the force I meant to start with. However, my lack of decals means these are the ones I am finishing with! I was able to piece through the Stuarts, using other nationality markings and early war decals from Battlefront. However, that would not work with the M3 Scout cars. Now that I have full sets from Peddinghaus, I can get through all my units. First, I am focusing on the 1st FFI Division and will move onto the first armored division after that. So, I am back on the land lease painting train!
It took a bit of time to get the grouping right, as the sheets only have specific vehicles and I had to extrapolate the rest of the units and work with the set ups. Fortunately, these are easy, from the photos I could find, as it it just about numbers and try colors!
The Scout cars are old models I have from Old Glory 15s. They are solid metal, but I had them and figured this would be a good use for them (I have other ones from Battlefront that will be used for my Soviets). I considered buying some resin ones, but decided I should stick with what I already have.
With that said, these followed the same steps as the earlier lend lease project vehicles. I sprayed the models with Krylon dark olive camo paint, hit the bottoms with Vallejo mud pumice, black washed the tank, drybrushed up the green, added the decals, drybrushed the brown, dull coated the models and finished with a Iraqi Sand drybrush. It is a pretty quick way to get through armor and gives a very dirty effect. Now, time to cut out some more decals!
