The last of the Gothic Sector Legion pre-painted terrain was released and I picked up a few sets of each box. I did not grab the turrets, as they did not fit what I was going for. I liked the building and silos, so two of these worked and you cannot have too much power, so multiple generators!
These all come pre-painted in green and gray, like the earlier sets. All made in the usual GF-9 semi hard (and heavy) resin. The silo has two parts, but everything else is single piece.
Everything is packed in bubblewrap, so no damage should be in the cards. I will admit, the painting on these was not as crisp as the earlier models, with noticeable over brushing. Not terrible, but noticeable.
Like the other sets, I decided to pimp up the pieces a little. This was mostly adding some shading to the gray and tan sections with some washes and highlights. I also wanted to camouflage the skulls by adding some white glue to them to hide the effects and paint them with black.
I toned down the silver with a black contrast and used this to paint some of the mono toned cables and panels. I went back to some of the control panels and added some white and red lights for character.
Now that I had all the sets done, I pulled out the older models and hit everything with some Krylon matt coat. This dries more satin, so it tones down some of the harshness.
Overall, a nice set that will look good on any sci fi battlefield. With that I have all the sets ready to go, the next time I want to set up a legion game. With that said, they have a new building line that looks more retro futuristic (I think it is for Tau)….. Maybe I bought these too soon?
