I have been working off and on to get my Fantasy Battle Dwarf army in shape for gaming. I recently finished re-basing my troops and working on a few units to fill out the army. At the same time, I felt I needed I should pimp up the units with some fillers and base bits.
One of the things I wanted was some dwarf treasure chests. I figured I could make a base with a stack of these and sprinkle them here and there on my various other bases. I turned to Etsy and found some resin prints for cheap and ordered the entire set.
These arrived and were nicely cast with great detail. I decided to go with the brown look, so sprayed these with some krylon camo brown to start. I also had a Peter Pig boat on my tray, so through that in on the paint tray to work on using the same paint technique.
I hit the models all with a dark brown wash. After that dried, I dry brushed them all up with a few shades of brown and tan. I went back and hit the rivets and metal areas with some brass. I finished up with a Krylon flat coat (a slight satin). With that, I have some chests and a boat to boot!
