While on my recent beach trip, I came across a line of toy figurines that I was not familiar with. They are from a company called Papo, out of France. They offer different animals, insects and dinosaurs in their multiple lines. The models I saw were painted to a very high standard and I thought they would fit well in both my fantasy and pulp collections. I did not see anything I wanted in the store, so I logged on when I got back home to the Papo site. I found a number of nice models that interested me. I decided to go onto Amazon, to see if they had any Papo figures. To my somewhat surprise they did. Since I had a gift card burning in my pocket, I decided to order a few models

The first was an ankylosaurus, to go with my other dinosaurs for pulp gaming. The other were two insects. One is a giant scorpion, also for Pulp. The other was a large beetle, that I will be using as a mount in my fantasy gnome army.

The figures are moulded in a semi hard plastic. The shading and detail painting is done quite well (as long as you ignore the part number on the bottom of each figure). I am particularly surprised how good the eyes look. Based on these, I think I will be picking up a few more dinosaurs for Pulp.

I think these are a very nice option for people looking for nicely painted alternatives unpainted plastic metal or resin miniatures. The quality is good and the pricing is reasonable.
