While walking the vendor hall at Historicon, I did my usual visit to Brigade Games to pick up a few minis. While there, I came across Rick’s Scenics terrain. The price was not bad, so I picked up the lot.

The set includes a number of plank roads cast in latex. The sets are done in tan and have a dark brown stain and can be used out of the box (or in this case, shrink wrapped pack). You get one long section, a long bend section, one short section with dirt, one short section without dirt and a double wide section.

I opted to shorten the long section to make storage and tabletop use easier and I split the doublewide into two sections to add more road. As the sections are made of latex, I just pulled out some common scissors and cut them as I liked. Looking over the set, I thought I would prefer a bit of darkening. So, I decided to hit each section with a thinned brown contrast paint. As some of the sections had dirt on the edges, I decided to drybrush those with some tan to lighten them up. Being latex, any acrylic point works, as they are generally somewhat flexible.

I am happy how they look and now have them ready for when I want such a feature on one of my Pulp tables.
