A couple years back, TJ and I came across a guy selling a collection of old Skytrex/Old Glory 15mm painted tank models. Going through the collection, the price was right, we both liked a number of vehicles in his early war selection and picked up the batch.
The figures got misplaced in our rush to get home, so we never separated them out. However, like everything, they were found. Well, we separated our various purchases and I took my portion home. This included a number of PzIs and PzIIs. The were all early marks, which is what attracted me to them. Looking more closely at them in better lighting, they needed more work than I thought! No worries, I had a base to work with and that is all I need!
I started with a black wash on all the tanks. I then went over them all with a dark gray drybrush on the main hull. I then hit the treads and mufflers with some contrast dark brown. I then went through and painted the tools to add a little color contrast.
Next I added a few decals. I went with Pz Abt 40 that fought in Norway, hence the odd numbering schema. This would allow me to fill out the force with my existing Neubaufarhtzuegen. The next step was a dust drybrush and some dull coat. A couple of hours work and they are ready for the tabletop!
