Along with my other fields, I also ordered some plowed fields and forest bases. These were of the same quality as the other fields. However, I thought they needed a little pimping up to fit my needs. Like the other modules, these are random edged and can be trimmed to your need. They are also about eight by twelve in size (the figure in the photos is a 25mm Dwarf). I trimmed up the woods a bit. I decided to square off the plowed field a bit. Just a few snips with scissors.
I thought the plowed fields were a bit light for my table. The forest bases have a green, tan brown effect. I thought this was too light and bright for a forest floor. So, I set both these sets aside until the weather was nice (we were getting a bit of rain here).
Once I had a nice day, I took them outside and laid them on a large piece of cardboard. I pulled out my Vallejo brown dip paint and a large brush. The wash is acrylic, so is flexible and works with latex. I then stated slopping the wash on all the pieces. This darkened everything up quite nicely, while leaving just enough of the lighter colors coming through to give the effect I was looking for.
With that, I have these ready to go. Truth be told, I was not sure the forest bases were going to work, due to the coloration. As such, I only ordered a few. However, now that I have the heavy wash on them, I really like them, so I will be ordering more! Overall, I really like all the latex terrain that Barrage Miniatures produces. Maybe I should get some of their green fields…….
