One of the things I wanted for my army, was a pair of giants. I thought about using actual giants, but decided some Ents would fit the theme better. That is not to say I may not change my mind later, but for now it will be Ents.
Since I have Wood Elves for fantasy battle and ents for LotR, I have collected all sizes and types of Treemen models one the years. Going through my pile of shame collection, I found a couple of models that would not fit my other armies.
One is a Wiz Kids model and the other was a resin model I found on Etsy some time ago. I liked the models, but they did not fit the style of figures I already painted for the armies mentioned earlier. So, now I had a chance to finish these up and put them to use!
I got some 50x75mm bases online from Greenstuff World and attached the figures to the bases. I sprayed them up with some dark brown Krylon camo brown. I then drybrushed them up using craft paints. I added some tan for exposed wood core and some orange for wood fungus. I then toned everything down with a full wash of dark tone from Army Painter. I went back and highlighted the orange and tan on the models. I opted for green eyes, so painted them light green and hit them with a wash of dark green for depth.
The Basing was the same as the other troops in the army. Brown pumice drybrushed up and adding of flower tufts. I decided to add some extra spiky bits tufts to size in better with the tree models. One of the freemen had a lot of small rocks at its base, so I added more rocks to both bases and painted those up to tie these in together. A brown boarder, some dull coat and these are done. I now have heavy support for the army. Next I just need some esoteric options!
