I was pretty set on the troopers front and it was time to add some support monsters. I wanted a Mangler Squig (I just decided I wanted a second one, so place an order on Etsy for a similar model). I had picked up a shambling beast model from Wiz Kids last year, as I liked the model. When I got it, I was not sure how I would use it, but the price was right. Well, with this army, I figured it out!
I painted the model up with a simple brown base and drybrush up with browns. I also added some orange on the mushrooms to add some color (I am still thinking maybe these should be changed to red to match the other ones in the army….). I then picked out all the leaves and hit those with a few shades of green. I felt the brown was a bit chalky, so hit the entire model with a dark brown thinned wash to filter that out.
Next I attached the model to a brown painted base and pumiced it up, adding a couple of rocks to break things up. Some dry brushing and added flocking next. I finished up with a sampling of different flower colors. With that, I have my first Mangler Squid (I mean Shambling Behemoth).
