With the completion of the ground pounders, I decided I wanted a unit of cavalry to go with my force. This would be I support of more mobile breakthrough and exploitation fights that the Americans fought during the last weeks of the war.
So, back to Gajo to order cavalry. I got the sets and had to make a decision. Battlefront recommends basing cavalry on large artillery bases. I followed that model when I did my Romanians many years ago. I have never really liked it. First, it looks funny having these large bases on the table top. Second, it did not make sense to me that when the units dismounted, they only took half the space. I decided to take the plunge and decided to stick with medium bases. The question then was two or three horses. Three would be closer the equal numbers, but still off and a bit crowded. To looked better on the base. Plus, if I played against someone that insisted on the larger bases, I could just put two together on the tabletop!
With that basing size decided, out came the white glue. I glued down the figures and pumiced them all with the IK dark earth. A little dry brushing, some gloss puddles and turn, with a painting of the boarders and all done!
With that, I have my US forces all finished! Wait a second….. Where are the mortars and snipers…….
