I got all my Marine Infantry out of the way, so I needed some support weapons. Some Machine guns and AT guns were a no brainer and I figured I should have at lease one battery of artillery. That got me thinking about machine guns and getting some earthed bunkers for more HMGs….
So, back to Gajo for the troops! I ordered guns and HMG units. I found a set of MG bunkers at my FLGS, I decided I wanted a few more, so I went into my boxes of unpainted stuff and found my stash of bunkers from Gaming Models (this is a very cheap way to get these). I had bought a complete set for the Pacific (an upcoming project), but the set was a bit too large. So, I pulled out some of the smaller ones and glued them to some loose FOW bases. I then sprayed these dark brown.
Like the infantry, I pumiced all the bases with AK dark earth and drybrushed this up. A little grass, some puddles and I bordered bases. I then glued down the laying down posed figures. It is easier to addd these once the bases are done and not have to deal with neatly going around them with pumice.
With that, I had to finish all the bunkers. I started by painting all the wood a different brown and the metal portions in gray. Any fresh wood or sand bags got painted tan. I then hit those areas with a dark brown wash and went back and highlighted those sections again.
I did not like the color of the Gajo 75s, so I hit those using a heavy coating of medium gray (leaving the darker gray showing through. I then drybrushed everything with a lighter gray. I finished with some silver on the wheels and painting the shells in the caissons brass. With that, I glued them to the bases to wrap things up!
At this point, I decided I need some recon…….
