The next unit up in the project was two platoons of M4 Sherman Crabs. These models come from Battlefield 3d. I always wanted flail tanks for my forces, but did not like any of the older models I found on the market. Most kits required you to glue on the individual chains or moulded them into a base that lost all the detail. Now that we have access to 3d printed models, we can find all kinds of things!
I picked these up, as I liked how the chains just hung down and were all done as part of the base model. No need to glue on bits that would always fall off from use. I was very happy when these arrived and added them to my stack of tanks.
When I decided to start the larger project, these were included, as they were on a US chassis. They followed the same painting method as the others, but with a twist. Instead of using US olive drab for the wet brush, I went with a British armor green. Other than that, they followed exact same painting technique as all the other vehicles.
These are marked as assets of the British 79th armored division. The detail on the vehicles is not quite as well done as the newer battlefront plastics. However, it is nicer that the old battlefront resin and metal models. The price is also lower than the plastic models, so a no brainer for any collection looking for an alternative.
