I have been filling out my FOW tank collection with resin 3d prints lately. One of the companies I have been using is Battlefield3d. They have a pretty substantial catalog. One of the things that got me looking at them was their various unusual vehicles. One does not get much more unusual than the WWII German Landwasserschlepper!
When I saw these, I had to get some, so I ordered them (along with too many other things…). They arrived after about two weeks and I added them to my paint table for a small side project later. Well, the time finally came and I decided to work on them.
The models are single piece gray resin prints with crisp details and corners. There are a few points of support that have to be trimmed off. This just takes a few minutes with an Xacto. The time came to work on them, so I pulled them out and hit them both with some Panzer Gray spray paint and let that sit. While taking a break from another project, I grabbed these to give myself a distraction. I started with painting the treads brown. I then hit everything with a black wash. Once that dried, I drybrushed the model with Panzer Gray and a medium gray. I went back and painted the stack and all the windows black. I finished up with a tan drybursh on the entire model and sealed it with some Matt varnish.
I love these resin kits. They are a great way to fill out holes in any collection. Being resin, you do need to be a little careful, as dropping them on a hard surface can result in disaster. If you can avoid that, go for it. Now I just need a bridge building scenario to use these on the table……
