I sat down with a buddy of mine at the last Fall In flea market, just to get off my feet and see how he was doing with his sales and help him load up. While chatting, I noticed that he had a bag of Star Wars gun towers in a zip lock bag. They looked like they might be for Star Wars X-Wing. He did not remember where he got them, but I decided to clear them from his table. I figured they would look good on either a Legion or epic table.
I pulled them out a week ago and looked them over. Judging by the type of resin, I assume they are from either Gallia or Hovels. One company is defunct and the other does not show them on their catalog, but that is my best case. Both companies used an almost glass like resin for their models and these are the same. So, this is my best guess.
I put together the models using super glue. The kits were five pieces. There were two metal guns, the turret, a turret ring and the tower itself. The ring was a bit tricky, as there are no guides, as it was hard to center. The guns also did not fit properly into the turrets. All things you will find in older resin kits. I did some carving and centering. I then used some thick super glue to fill in gaps and got through it.
I decided to keep them simple and just went with gray. I primed the towers with some Krylon Gray spray primer. I followed later with a black wash and a couple layers of gray dry brushing (hobby paints). I added some black to the gun tips and finished up with a spray dull coat from Army Painter.
The models came together fine and I think they will work well in my Sci Fi terrain collection.
