I had put together a decent sized winter German infantry force earlier this year. I let a buddy borrow them to run some of our Friday FOW games over the summer. When I got them back, I noticed that I was missing one of my infantry platoons…… Well, while doing some moving around at home, I found out were it went. It seems the figure were in another box and I never actually finished them!
So, not time like the present, I pulled them out and got to work. These are actually Gajo figures that I bought over the last Christmas holidays. However, they are still available from Gajo on their website. As usual, I inspected the figures and straightened out the weapons, as I figured out the base and figure mixes. I followed this up with a quick spray paint of the bases in gray to get them primed.
Once the bases were dried, I glued the figures down the next day and let them dray. I use white glue, so I have to let them sit over night. I prefer the white glue, as it gives a little bit of a seal and is easier to remove, should I ever wish to rebase.
I next covered the bases with Vallejo snow pumice, sprinkling on a bit of glitter as I went. Once that dried, I painted the boarders with Vallejo light gray. I then went back and did a little tough up. I started by painting all the gray helmets white, to winter up the troops a bit more. I then painted a few pants in white also. The final step was to add Gamers Grass winter spikey tufts to the bases. I think these look like snow covered bushes and add a little character to the bases. This was followed up by the usual dull coat spray.
Now, I can say that my winter German force is complete!
