OK, they are 15mm figures. However, all Gnome miniatures in every scale is oversized. Everyone knows Gnomes are only 6-12″ tall. This leaves us with the option of getting under-scaled figures to represent “Historical” Gnomes correctly. Clearly we need to be historically accurate!
This is actually a stale project that I had to bring to completion. I had painted the Gnomes some time ago (see earlier post). However, I managed to misplace my flowers for the artillery…. So, after exhausting my search (after completely reorganizing my hobby storage room), I decided to go back to the manufacturer (Splintered Light) and order some replacements.
I finally got them and painted them up. The paint job was a base of white primer followed by GW contrast paint for the green, yellow and black. I hit each color with a highlight. I then attached these to the long waiting crew bases that I finished last year. Some flock and a lot of flowers and the Flowerpults are ready for action!
As mentioned, these figures are from Splintered Light. They gave a range of Gnome troops in 15mm. All are metal castes with little to no flash. Being small and lacking a lot of kit, painting is a snap. You can also find some from Peter Pig. Between the two, you can get a nice cross reference of different models and poses. I have them all and will even use some figures to crew war machines in the future. Now, where did I put my Gnome Giant Snail Cavalry……
