Finished the next batch of my Lend Lease Armor Project. When I was pulling out all my 15mm FOW minis, I also decided to pull out some old 20mm models that I had build some years back that had been sitting on the shelf. I sprayed these at the same time as the 15mm tanks.
With all the other tanks, I applied the black wash to these and then hit them with a heavy brown violet wet brush. The hard part was finding were I put the deals for these vehicle! I found them with some of my other model bits and applied them to the vehicles and let them dry.
The truck, M8 and DUKW models are from Italerari. Unfortunately, these models have very small contact points for the wheels and I managed to break off about half of these while I was applying washes and wet brushes by hand. I had to reattach these using plastic glue. As the wheel hubs are hollow, I went back and filled them with white glue (one side at a time) and waited for these to dry. This filled in much of the area and hopefully will give more support to keep the whees on!
The M16 is an old Matchbox model and went together with no issues. The jeep with trailer is from Hasegawa. The six jeeps with the folded down windshield and 57mm are all from SHQ. These are metal models and go together easily. I made the mistake of assembling the windshield down. This is an issue, as there was not reasonable way to apply the star on the bonnet. Whenever my new minis arrive from Britain and I paint these, I will need to add some storage to cover this area up to hide the missing star. Stowage covers a multitude of sins!
I had to go back and paint all the seat covers with leather brown. I then hit these areas with a brown wash.
Like all the other vehicles, I painted all the tires and weapons with contrast black. I then drybrushed everything with Iraqi sand and sealed the vehicles with Tamiya Dull Coat. Another batch done, with a few more to go.
