Another pulp adventure Tuesday. I’m still on the fantasy kick, so Pulp Fantasy it would be. As usual, I had no idea on the number of players to expect, so I set up the table and the adventure and would take it from there.
Some of my usuals did not make it, but fortunately my LotR buddy showed up with his armies, so we had troops. The players came in slowly, but we got to four, so it would be a two on two action. One side built their forces around two dwarf clans and the other from two human squads. I let each player pick one Star, one Co-Star and a couple of extras. Each force was 20 points.
I added the co stars for this game, to reduce the figure count a bit. The table was set up as an abandoned orc village. The mission was to search the village and plunder any loot. Each side would get points for any tokens they found and we would roll on the event table to see what each would bring!
I set up the table to have the village in the center, with some surrounding jungle. I would roll on the caravan event table to see what events would happen. This included a number of monster results, so would be perfect for some player surprises!
Both sides lined up and we went to it. The advance was slow, as each player tried to grab tokens, but position themselves. The first tokens were simple traps and the players got the points.
As the forces closed and started to fight, the objectives got more interesting. Each token uncovered a hiding yeti! Now we know why the village was abandoned! One token was very stubborn, the dwarves kept searching but could not uncover it (they kept failing their mind test). This would haunt them later…
The dwarves got the initial advantage, but slowly got warn down by the humans. With the yetis tying up both sides, he humans were able to finish off a couple of dwarf heroes, but the dwarves had the advantage in loot (very much like a dwarf).
We went back and forth with both sides stealing the scene to get advantage. However, once the cards cleared and the game was over, we ended in a tie. Looks like both forces would have to be happy with their loot and try again another day. Seems that token that was left unturned was all the difference…..
