I was recently at a model train shop, while visiting Manassas Virginia. Whenever I go on a trip, I always check out the local hobby shops to see what they might have. I like to find older shops that might have some older inventory. This shop sells a lot of old used stuff that has been purchased from estates and people just trying to get rid of stuff.
Well, while going though stuff, I found a woodland scenics bear set for only five dollars! I thought this would make for a nice vignette on an F&I wilderness table. So, I picked them up.
The set comes with a playing bear family and is repainted. Now, I just needed to make them useful. I grabbed a large round GW base and added some pumice and drybrushed that up a bit. I then glued down the bears. I decided to add a little wash and highlight to the bears to give a little more shading. I then added some miscellaneous tufts and sprayed the whole thing with dull coat to seal everything in.
With that, I have a fun little piece for my table. I should have pinned the models down, but was lazy, so I expect I will be re-gluing the bears down when they pop off! Not a biggy. You never know what you are going to find in an old hobby shop and what you can do with it!
